From the Cage to the Sky: My Journey with the Breath

Breathing is a miraculous act that we all perform without even realizing it. But let me share a secret with you: life gains true meaning only when we become aware of our breath—when we approach it with a sense of purpose.

About a year ago, I embarked on a “breath journey.” At that time, almost every book I read or video I watched seemed to revolve around the breath. It was as if the universe was pointing the way. Even the most seemingly unrelated articles or images found a way to touch upon the subject. Eventually, I stopped resisting; I read more, researched deeper, and decided to undergo professional training to truly understand its essence.

After my training, I had the chance to experience a profound breath session with a professional. Even today, thinking back to those moments gives me goosebumps. It was incredibly intense, deep, and—to be honest—somewhat unsettling. By the end of the session, the only thing I felt was the raw liberation of a bird finally released from its cage. My heart was literally fluttering. My tears flowed like a river, reminding me how healing it is to simply cry. And I didn’t cry quietly; I wailed. Each deep, intentional breath expelled what needed to go and etched into my mind and body what I needed to keep.

That experience was a major turning point in my life. I am deeply grateful to myself and to the wonderful coach who accompanied me on that path.

In truth, the breath is a key for every situation; sometimes it opens doors, sometimes it soothes, and sometimes it awakens the light within. Whatever your need is in that moment, the breath cooperates with you. If you can surrender, it shows you the way and walks you toward the exit, hand in hand.

The most important thing here is the ability to “surrender” and, of course, to put in the work. Because the breath, on its own, cannot perform miracles. It isn’t a magic wand that can fix everything gone wrong, erase traumas, or turn life into a rose garden. However, it does help us build a more honest relationship with our bodies and our emotions. And if we intend to change something in our lives, it is a formidable starting point.

I don’t use the breath as a quick escape from difficult moments. On the contrary, I see it as a tool to dive to the bottom of that difficulty—to search for and find the solution right there in the depths. So, there is no forced effort to “stay positive.” No suppressing emotions. No fixed destination to reach.

Through its incredible relationship with the body, the breath helps me clearly understand my emotional state and guide—or if necessary, heal—those emotions as I see fit.

My year-long period of internal preparation, which began with my training, is now ready to bear fruit. Today, I am here to walk alongside you under the guidance of the breath. I don’t promise perfection; I promise sincerity and a mutual process of learning. Perhaps, on this journey, it is what we learn from one another that will truly heal us.

To put it simply: I cannot teach you how to breathe. You already know how to do that.

I can only hold the space for you to use it correctly and to remember its power. If you wish—if you are ready to be honest with yourself, to understand your emotions, and to walk this path not through shortcuts, but by savoring and understanding every step:

Come, let’s breathe together.
